Care Dependency Grant
The Care Dependency grant is administered by your local SASSA office (South African Social Security Agency).
If you are a parent, primary caregiver or a
foster parent (appointed by the court) of a child with
disabilities and needs full-time and special care you could be eligible for the Care Dependency Grant.
The age of the child must be under 18. You are
not eligable in the case that the child is cared for in a state
institution. Furthermore a medical officer has to officially state that
the child is severely and permanently medically disabled.

Financial Requirements
At the time of writing
(01/01/2021) you must meet the follwing financial requirements according
to the "means test". If you are married your household must earn less than R33,800 per month (R405,600 per year). If you are single you must earn
less than R16,900 per month (R202,800 per year).
As of April 2020, the Child Support Grant is Rand
1,860 per month.
If you want to recieve the grant the child must live with you in South
Africa, must be under the age of 18 and you must be the primary care giver.
In the case that you are not the biological parent you have to proof that you are the primary caregiver. Proof can be
an affidavit of the court stating that you are the primary caregiver.
